Abstract
This study explores the foundational aspects of philosophy within the French context, focusing on its historical roots, key themes, and pedagogical approaches. French philosophy has been instrumental in shaping global intellectual discourse, contributing significantly to fields such as ethics, politics, and critical theory. Prominent thinkers like René Descartes, Jean-Paul Sartre, and Michel Foucault have left indelible marks on philosophical inquiry, making the French tradition a critical subject of academic interest.The purpose of this research is to provide an introduction to the study of philosophy in French, examining how it is taught and understood in educational settings, particularly at introductory levels. The study seeks to highlight the significance of philosophy in fostering critical thinking, cultural identity, and social awareness among learners.Employing a qualitative methodology, the research involves the analysis of French philosophy curricula, key texts, and pedagogical approaches. Findings reveal that while French philosophy remains central to intellectual culture, challenges persist in its accessibility and engagement, particularly for beginners.The study concludes that integrating innovative teaching methods and simplifying complex concepts could enhance the teaching and learning of philosophy in French. It recommends further exploration of digital tools and emerging themes to modernize the field and address contemporary societal needs.
