The Future of French Language

ABSTRACT:

Nigeria’s geographical proximity to Francophone countries necessitates adopting French as its second official language, alongside English. Reflecting this, the revised National Policy on Education (2013, 2016) mandates French as a compulsory subject in junior secondary schools. This study assesses the current state of French language teaching and learning in Nigeria’s education system, underscoring its significance.
